I have….for instance, when I’m not exercising or sticking to my diet, and I just had a “run in” with a relative. Have you ever felt like you’re just not worth much of anything? Guess what, that was me this morning. I came to work and started reading the prayer requests and praying for each one. The Lord began to help me pray for each one and I began to sense His love and concern for each one in a very special way, giving me prayers to pray that my faith could believe. My heart began to respond and feel His love and concern for all who are His (me included). When you need a touch from the Lord, cry out for Him to touch someone in need, and you can get the blessing of His touch as well.
Why do we get so “down on ourselves,” when we don’t perform like we think we should? His love sees through all the “stuff and fluff” and knows that we long to feel His touch and sense His presence. Thank you Lord, that Your love is not limited by our ability to “feel” it. When we believe that You and Your love is the same all the time, the correction is ours to make. When we reach out to You for others, You can use our gesture to reach us in a way that we don’t open for ourselves.
Father, You will always find a way to reveal Yourself to a child in need. Sometimes we just need to be aware and confess our need. You are always ready to connect “Spirit to spirit” when we trust You more than our feelings. However, You delight in refreshing us in all areas of our lives. Help us to believe that we are one with You and each other in Your sight because of all You accomplished when You walked on earth and lived in a body like ours. Thank you, Lord Jesus; You believe in us as we grow and mature in our believing in You.
SWC is excited to partner with Operation Christmas Child again this year, facilitated by Lynda Gustafson. This is a great outreach that meets the needs of children all over the world and shares with them the love of Christ. This year, we’re focusing on gifts for Boys and Girls, ages 10-14 years.
March Donation emphasis: tooth brushes, combs, hair brushes, and hair accessories
Please no liquids or candy; you are welcome to bring your donations to the SWC foyer on any Sunday.
Student ministry is alive and well at SWC. We are about equipping and training young people to grow and thrive in God while living in the real world. It’s our purpose to inspire students to impact their environment and reach out to those around them with the message of God’s love. At SWC, students can find a place where they are known, challenged and encouraged in their walk with the Lord.
Fusion youth ministry is led by Pastor Christine Martin and Tim Bakies. Fusion gathers on Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM in 201 for their mid-week service. Their UPS Human Video/Drama Troupe meets at 5:30 PM in the sanctuary and is led by Tim Bakies. Each Fusion service is a mixture of live worship, relevant teaching and relational connections, specifically designed for Middle School and Sr. High students.
In the Red Sea Rules, Robert J. Morgan writes, “If wisdom…is seeing things from God’s point of view, praise is the natural reaction to that viewpoint….praise and worship are the sand and cement that hold the bricks in place along life’s daily pathway. Every segment of our day should be encased in praise.” What a great challenge….As believers, we are exhorted to “take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ,” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). I find that some days are better than others and I struggle to “live it out.”
Colossians 3:1-3 says, “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”
Our thoughts matter. The direction of our thoughts has a huge impact on the direction of our lives. Having a renewed mind is a daily choice for all of us, and offering praise to the Lord is a powerful, sustaining part of that work. Our Father makes it possible through His Word and Spirit.
At SWC, we are excited about ministry to children, and we’re passionate about assisting you in their spiritual growth and discipleship. There is nothing boring about life with God, and we want children to experience the great adventure found in embracing His purposes for them and His love in their lives. Our Children’s Ministry department is led by Lenny Corliss, our Children’s Pastor, and Bill Harper, Pastor of Family Ministries and Director of Early Childhood Ministries.
Each Sunday morning at 10 AM, elementary-aged children meet in room 204 for their worship service. His Kidz is a high-impact worship service designed specifically for kids in first through sixth grade. This children’s church provides an age-appropriate service, including Bible lessons, praise and worship, puppet skits, dramas, Bible quizzing and object lessons. It’s our goal to make their time in His Kidz one of their favorite things they do all week, while impacting them with the truth of God’s Word and His incredible love for them. Join us in the His Kidz’ auditorium this Sunday.
Babies and toddlers gather in the 300 building, the first building south of the sanctuary. These precious little ones are served by a dedicated staff of fun and loving teachers who lead them in songs, playtime and visual learning.
Creative arts are a powerful way to express the message of the Gospel. The UPS (Uniquely Presenting Salvation) Drama team is open to students in 7th-12th grade, and they’re led by Tim Bakies. UPS meets for practice on Wednesday nights at 5:30 PM in the main sanctuary.
