Prayer Groups

Prayer is vitally important to the ministry at SWC.  There are two weekly prayer groups that meet at the SWC campus, as well as a monthly Awake prayer & worship night on the first Saturday of each month.  Here’s the schedule. If you’ve never attended one of these prayer times, you can know that in this peaceful environment, there’s no pressure for anyone to have to pray in front of the group.  It’s a great time to prepare our hearts for corporate worship on Sunday and engage in personal reflection and seeking the Lord together.

Home on the Way

Home on the Way is a local ministry to some of our neighbors in our valley who are in desperate need.  Each month, a team from SWC serves at HOTW, sharing a delicious dinner and the love of Christ with the people who gather there.   We’re collecting winter clothes, shoes and blankets, as well.  Feel welcome to donate items on any Sunday in the SWC foyer.  The next HOTW outreach is scheduled for Tuesday, March 6th. Meet the team at 2 PM to prepare dinner in the 100 kitchen and/or leave with the team at 4:15 for the HOTW campus to minster and serve.  Volunteer Form.

Men’s & Women’s Bible Studies

Tuesday Morning Women’s Study, led by Jennifer Harper
Tuesday Evening Women’s Study, led by Kim Norton

Tuesday Morning Men’s Study, led by Pastor Chris Harper

Our Bible studies are made up of men and women who come from different backgrounds and face different challenges, yet we find our common ground in Christ.   These groups are about sharing God’s Word and sharing life together.

I Thessalonians 2:8, “we loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel . . .but our lives as well . . . .”

How it works…

The elders at SWC are a group of great people who pray regularly for every member of the SWC family.  They serve along side Pastor Chris & Jennifer, offering pastoral ministry and discipleship as well.

In fact, practically speaking, several of the elders have committed to pray and serve you right where you live…

This is what it looks like:

So that everyone is covered, we have assigned an elder to every zip code in PHX area, grouped together in zones.  Based on your zip code, you have direct access to an elder who is already praying for you and anticipates walking alongside you in your journey with the Lord.

Keep in mind all of our pastors and elders are pleased to serve you (to date, there are 19). However, your assigned elder is especially given to praying for you and supporting you in your faith journey.

So no matter where you live…you’re covered!!

His Kidz Children’s Ministry

At SWC, we are excited about ministry to children, and we’re passionate about their spiritual growth and discipleship.  There is nothing boring about life with God, and we want children to experience the great adventure found in embracing His purposes for them and His love in their lives.  Our Children’s Ministry department is led by Pastor Lenny Corliss.

Each Sunday morning at 10 AM, elementary-aged children meet in room 204 for their worship service.   His Kidz is designed specifically for kids in first through sixth grade.  This children’s church provides an age-appropriate service, including Bible lessons, praise and worship, puppet skits, dramas, Bible quizzing and object lessons.  It’s our goal to make their time in His Kidz one of their favorite things they do all week, while impacting them with the truth of God’s Word and His incredible love for them.  Join us in the His Kidz’ auditorium this Sunday.

Babies and toddlers gather in the 300 building, the first building south of the sanctuary.  These precious little ones are served by a dedicated staff of fun and loving teachers who lead them in songs, playtime and visual learning.

Lawrence Engage Group

A group of adult singles and marrieds gather for dinner and Bible study, facilitated by Lucy Lawrence and Sharon Howard at the SWC campus, on the 1st & 3rd Fridays of each month at 6:30 PM. This group is service-minded and regularly active in helping the church fellowship and surrounding community through missions outreaches and visitation. They also host a game night for everyone on the 4th Friday of each month.  Contact us for more information.
