Easter Reflections

Pastor’s message on Sunday was so encouraging and very memorable, (especially the ladder illustration).  When Michael  Anderson came to support Pastor on the top of the ladder, there was a huge sigh of relief and the added illustration was very meaningful .  (When reaching out in Hope, take someone with you, maybe a Prayer Partner)    Hope now has a fresh meaning  for me.  It had seemed to me to be a prelude to faith, but now it’s like what generates the move toward living active faith.  Hope no longer feels “the least” in the trinity of Faith, Hope and Love to me.

Without a living Hope, we seldom are motivated to exercise our Faith and Love.

To refresh your memory, here are only  a few of the 133 times Hope is mentioned in the KJ translation of the Bible.

Psalm 33:22  “Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.”

Proverbs 13:12  “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.”

Acts 2:26  “Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope”

Romans 8:25  “But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.”

Romans 12:12  “Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer”

Romans 15:4  “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”

1 Corinthians 13:13  “And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity”

1 Timothy 1:1  “Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope”

Titus 1:2  “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began”

Titus 2:13  “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior”

Hebrews 6:19   “Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;Jesus Christ”

1 John 3:3  “And every man that hath this hope in him (Jesus) purifieth himself, even as he (Jesus) is pure”( my emphases)

So now….. In hope, I’m believing, we are all growing and exercising our Hope in our Lord Jesus and His Word, as well as all that He has paid for and is preparing for those of us who hope in Him.
