Listen, listen, listen
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” Rev 3:20-22 (KJV)
“Look at me. I stand at the door. I knock. If you hear me call and open the door, I’ll come right in and sit down to supper with you. Conquerors will sit alongside me at the head table, just as I, having conquered, took the place of honor at the side of my Father. That’s my gift to the conquerors! “Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches.” Rev 3:20-22 (The Message)
Last Sunday, the Lord made it very clear through the prophetic word that we may not be hearing all that He has intended for us to hear. This verse above makes it so clear that His desire is to have intimate fellowship with each of us.
When we pray and give our concerns to the Lord, do we take time to listen to what He would like to share with us? If we do and it’s not what we are expecting Him to say, we may discount it as “not my answer”. It may very well be the beginning of a dialogue with Him that will help you find the answer. Short answers don’t give Him the opportunity to reveal His heart and deep affection for you.
Do you ever find yourself longing for someone to just spend time with you because they want to be with you, sharing your heart and feelings? Jesus spent years trying to show his disciples the heart of His father while He was with them here on earth. Now, because He loves us more that life itself, He is calling us to “dine with Him,” learning how to overcome each and every thought and situation that would hinder us from the intimate fellowship that we both will cherish. Listening is more that hearing, it’s responding, doing, and telling.
“Blessed (happy, prosperous, to be admired) is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and who keep the things which are written in it [heeding them and taking them to heart]; for the time [of fulfillment] is near.” Revelation 1:3 (Amplified)
“For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.” Revelation 7:17 (KJ V)
