Great is Thy Faithfulness

GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS

This Hymn has been lingering in my head for days now.  The message in it is timeless and so needed for us to ponder: It was written by Thomas Chisholm in 1866, and taken from Lamentations 3:23.

"Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father, there is not shadow of turning with thee.  Thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not; as thou hast been, thou forever wilt be.

Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed thy hand hath provided.  Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto Me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest, sun, moon, and stars in their courses above join with all nature in manifold witness to thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.

Pardon for sin and peace that endureth, thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide, strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, blessing all mine, with thousand beside!

Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed thy hand hath provided.  Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!"

This truth is as anointed today as it was 154 years. The reality of our God's compassion, mercies and faithfulness are as real and available to us today as they were to Mr. Chisholm so long ago.  Also, His pardon, presence, guidance, and strength; however, the phrase that stands out to me is the β€œall I have need of thy Hand has provided.” His provision physically, emotionally, spiritually--ALL that I have need. Father, please continue to teach us to receive your provision with gratitude and joy.

MERRY CHRISTMAS
Roberta
