No Advice From Fools
By Andrew Cascio
“I don’t want to take advice from fools”
“Like the useless legs of one who is lame is a proverb in the mouth of a fool.”
Proverbs 26:7 NIV
Do you ever have people that give you advice and as you’re hearing it you know it to be bad? Like you know there’s no reason at all they should be giving advice to anyone. Take caution with these people, they don’t know what it is they are saying and are going to lead you down the wrong path. If someone doesn’t have any wisdom when it comes to finances, doesn’t have any money in the bank, do they seem like someone to take financial advice from?
The fact of the matter is taking advice from fools will get you nowhere, there’s no value in it, and you won’t gain anything. If you want to be better at something, hang around with people that are well versed in it, people who know what they’re doing. Take advice from them, learn from the mistakes they have made, soak up the knowledge and wisdom they share. Heed their warnings, listen to the dos and dont’s, and take it all in. When I have questions about something I don’t understand in the Bible I reach out to an Elder or Pastor at my church for clarity.
I want to know what the meaning is and learn more about it. I don’t reach out and discuss with with a friend who’s never even picked up the Bible. Be mindful of where you are obtaining your information. Likewise, be mindful of what you know and don’t know. If someone asks you about something and you aren’t sure, don’t be a fool yourself and lead someone in the wrong direction, it’s ok to say you don’t know. I would rather have someone tell me that rather than lead me astray.
